I've never done pilates before, is it right for me?
At Everybody Pilates we work with very small classes, so we can cater for everyone! Yes, including you!
I love teaching the basics- as this is where the real magic of pilates lies! Pilates doesn't have to be complicated to be effective, and I love making Pilates movements accessible to all! Our group mat classes are still only $10 per class!! And lycra is optional!
Level 2 updates
During COVID level 2 alert in NZ, classes will be running from my home studio, which means classes are limited to 5. But that's OK, I have flexibility for extra classes! Click on the link above to book a class, or contact me with requests for new class times. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO BRING YOUR OWN MAT AND WATER BOTTLE.

Pilates with Sharon

Your Pilates experience will vary from instructor to instructor. Sharon has been teaching movement in some form since her very first jobs as an assistant gymnastics coach back in 1988.....
Although that doesn't influence her practice so much these days. She qualified as a fitness instructor and personal trainer in 2006, teaching freestyle aerobics, step, bar, and hip hop classes for gyms in Perth, Western Australia.
"Pregnancy and big heavy babies led me to my first pilates class with a physio in 2011. This was life changing for me. I realised that even as a PT, I didn't have the tools I needed to rebuild my core properly, and I was suffering back and shoulder pain from unbalanced posture and poor core strength (diastasis anybody?!). I began to take regular mat classes (being a gymnast the mat speaks to me!) and was soon hooked, and realised I needed to study pilates and qualify as an instructor."
Qualifications
Cert IV Personal Trainer (group fitness and gym instructor), Cert IV Pilates Matwork, BA (English literature/History). Currently completing a BSc in Human Nutrition
Interests
Sharon competes in Masters Gymnastics (women's artistic) and with her husband in Salsa and Bachata (latin dance). She has two school aged children who keep her on her toes, so she need her pilates to keep her body moving!
Philosophy
"My Pilates practice is governed by two great philosophies: Move It or Lose It, and Pilates is for Every Body (regardless of your age or gender!)."
That doesn't mean that every class or exercise is for every body- we all have injuries and niggles and quirks that mean we have to adjust our range or pace or choice of movement. My small classes means that I can help with variations on all our movements. Of course if you have a serious injury or medical issue, you should check with your physio or GP before you start a new form of exercise.
